|June 3rd 2008| Last Saturday Peter "Yamatodamashii" Angerer and Jochen "Isami" Gieb were scheduled to fight in the newly founded IBK Pro Division in Berlin. First of all: both opponents of the GTT fighters didn't come to Berlin to fight... Wheter Pride veteran Rodney Faverus nor Danial Sharifi were informed about those fights in Berlin by their management of Team Hardcore. While no replacement opponent for Angerer could be found in such a short time Peter Verschuren of Team Hardcore agreed to fight Jochen on that day. The 42 year old Trainer of Team Hardcore gave Jochen a valueable lesson. After a very tight first round in Karate Jochen was able to land some serious shot in Thaiboxing in round 2 but the dutchman was going forward like a bulldozer and worked the body of Jochen with heavy hook combinations. At the end of round two this strategy worked for Verschuren, when he hit Jochen on the liver to drop him for the count and winning by KO. |

Also some fighters of the GTT from different schools of the GTT has been pitted against each other and once again it was time to find out who is the best. The reigning champion of the Welterweight Division in the C-Class Igor Montes-Kircher of the Team German Oak in Stuttgart gave a stunning showcase of his skills, when he knocked out Sebastian Liebner from the Kamikaze Dojo in only 7 seconds in Round 1 with his lightning fast punches. Also his second opponent in the Welterweight Tournament, Dietrich Gebert of the Sakura Dojo in Lossburg wasn't a true test for the student of Shidokan World Champion Thorsten Kronz. Igor finished the Sambo-Stylist in under two minutes with a text-book Juji-Gatame in Round 1. On the other hand there was a new but promising talent from the Kamikaze Dojo in Nürtingen under Shihan Peter Angerer: Matthias Merkle. Matthias left the spectators in awe when he finished the highly favored Daniel Talmon of the Sakura Dojo in Lossburg in only 14 seconds of Round 1 with a Bulldog-Choke. In the finals he faced Igor, who has finished two opponents in barely two minutes total fight time and the fight lived up to all the expectations. Both fihgters showed high class Thaiboxing during the stand-up but it was Matthias who repeatedly scored the takedowns and who was more effective on the ground. After 1:15 minutes in Round two he finished Igor with a perfect toehold to win this tournament. It was an excellent performance in his first two fights and we welcome Matthias to the GTT!
