Angerer loses by controversial stoppage in England |
![]()
|October 16th 2005| Yesterday the reigning SHIDO MMA Welterweight Champion Peter "Yamatodamashii" Angerer fought for the vacant FX3 Title at "Battle of Britain" in Reading (England) against Paul "Semtex" Daley (Team Rough House/England). Daley is the No 1 in UK's Welterweight Division and it should be a hard challenge for the GTT fighter. Daley started the fight with several lowkicks and Peter answered by taking Daley to the Clinch to try to take him down. The defense of Daley was superb and both fighter clinched for about a minute exchaning short punches and knees. Angerer attempted a Guillotine Choke but Daley escaped and managed to take Angerer down, where he immediately began to fire his infamous left hooks to the german's head. Angerer managed to get full guard but Daley stood up and escaped. Angerer followed Daley to stand up just to end in a clinch again, where the german went for a knee to the head of Daley. Daley answered with a knee to the midsection by himself and was able to throw Angerer to the floor. The german turteled to cover his head as the Referee in charge stepped in and stopped the fight?! This (the early stoppage) was a very misunderstandable situation, as Daley hasn't even begun to pound on Angerer on the floor and Angerer was in no danger at the time of the stoppage. The promoters of FX3 already has agreed to a Re-Match between Daley and Angerer in Februar to straighten this situation out and Peter is looking forward to another fight against "Semtex": "Paul Daley is a great sportsman and athlete and I respect him a lot as a fighter. But the stoppage had no reason as I wasn't in any danger at this time. Things like this happen and I don't want to take anything away from Paul's win or from FX3. I am just happy that they see things like I do and agreed to a Re-Match." |
